Sensitivity Testing

What are Sensitivities?

Sensitivities are reactions to substances that are not due to an immune reaction or an intolerance.  A patient can become sensitive to almost anything from environmental, chemical and material sources to foods, hormones and even nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and fatty acids. Sensitivity reactions can be severe or mild and a patient can be sensitive to one or many substances at the same time.

There are two kinds of sensitivity reactions that people can have to substances.

  1. Overt Sensitivity Reactions occur when the sensitivity is severe or happens quickly. These sensitivities can exhibit in the form of acute diarrhea, constipation, sneezing, rash, swelling, intense itching and even anaphylaxis. About 5% of patients will exhibit overt reactions.
  1. Covert Sensitivity Reactions occur when the sensitivity is mild but often chronic in nature. These reactions can occur as headaches, joint or muscle pain, fatigue, irritability, rashes and swellings that come and go, chronic diarrhea, constipation or gas and bloating. Most of these reactions are mild but enough to affect the patient’s quality of life. 95% of patients will exhibit covert reactions.

Why Test Sensitivities with Biofeedback Analysis (BA)?

Many patients will come to the clinic exhibiting symptoms related to certain substances however, many of them have undergone standard medical testing which has ruled out any allergy (typically an IgG / IgE test) or intolerance (deficiency in enzymes used to metabolize the specific substance). In these cases it is important to discover if the patient has a true sensitivity to the particular substance which is where Biofeedback testing is utilized.

Once a substance or group of substances have been identified the sensitivity can be safely removed with BioEnergetic Intolerance Elimination Techniques.
